Firesouls are continuously dreaming up, planning, and managing programs and events in their Sacred Places. And while these enrichment activities are invaluable to their communities, there is a lot of hard work that goes into making them come to life. That’s why, in addition to grant funding, the Firesoul Network is here to support Firesouls with pre-packaged, low-lift opt-in programming. This year, we have continued a Network favorite – Yoga in the Garden. And Firesouls across the Network have been maximizing this opportunity in exciting ways.

Nature Sacred can support yoga in your Sacred Place! Here’s how:

For Baltimore-based Firesouls: Opt in with Dee! Visit the opt-in programming section on your Firesoul Gateway dashboard to sign up. Scroll down for more information and get inspired with some highlights from the first half of the year!

For all Firesouls: Already have a yoga instructor? Nature Sacred can fund those sessions! This year, Baltimore Washington Medical Center hosted a yoga and journaling event for nurses and staff. A team member at BWMC, who also instructs yoga, was delighted to share her talents with her colleagues. Nature Sacred is honored to have supported the class and event through an enrichment grant. If you have an existing relationship with a yoga instructor, or have someone identified, Nature Sacred can fund those classes! Visit the grants section on your Firesoul Gateway dashboard to apply for funding. All Firesouls in the Network are eligible to apply.

For Firesouls located outside of Baltimore: Interested in bringing yoga to your Sacred Place but do not have an instructor identified? Reach out to Hannah and she’ll gladly assist you in identifying a local instructor and get you set up with an enrichment grant to support their services!

Marketing assistance: We’ve put together a media kit to help you promote your yoga sessions. Visit the opt-in programming section of your Firesoul Gateway dashboard for editable social media posts, blurbs and flyers for you to use in any way you like.

For the second year in a row, we’re partnering with Baltimore-based yoga instructor, Dee Satterfield. Our partnership with Dee allows for Baltimore-area Firesouls to select up to 6 dates and times to host a class in their Sacred Place at no cost to them and with little to no coordination required on their part. Dee provides mats and blocks for participants. Customizable fliers and social media posts to help promote yoga classes are available on the Firesoul Gateway. Enrichment and Enhancement Grant funding is also available to support refreshments, staff time, or other needs associated with the yoga classes.

We’ve just wrapped up our 2024 spring yoga classes with Dee, who worked with five different communities: The League for People with Disabilities, The Mulberry Gander at Filbert Street Garden, Thanksgiving Place, The Nurturing Nature Garden at Baltimore Clayworks, and Amazing Port Street Garden at Amazing Grace Church.

In this second year of partnership with Dee, we have seen her connections with Firesouls and communities from last year continue to flourish. According to Firesoul Pastor Gary Dittman, community members have requested that yoga with Dee become a regular activity at Amazing Port Street. Dee also returned to Thanksgiving Place and The Mulberry Gander at Filbert Street, who she first worked with last spring. She has even started her very own community garden plot at Filbert Street!

This year, new folks also participated in the program. At the League for People, Dee taught a series of outdoor chair/ability accommodating classes. Firesoul, David Greenberg, shared photos with the Nature Sacred team saying:

“I am sharing these photos with you in appreciation of your bringing back your funding of Yoga in the Garden this year! Look at the joy on the faces of many of our League participants.”
