HOW IT CAME TO BE

Formerly Watts Branch.

01

The Need

Formerly Watts Branch Park, this is one of DC's most historic and memorable parks, and the longest continuous city park and creek in the District. It went through decades of decline.

02

The Vision

Washington Parks & People has been a strong impetus behind the park's reclamation and revitalization. Since 2001 that decline has been turned around and the park cleaned up. Nature Sacred partnered with them to include a sacred space of reflection within it.

03

The Transformation

The Sacred Place includes thoughtful landscaping that lends itself to quiet privacy and meditation. Huge strides have been made in the community reclamation of the park to restore it to the clean, safe, green condition in which it began.
