HOW IT CAME TO BE

Four systems, one center.

01

The Need

Oregon's system for treating mental illness had been fragmented for years, presenting significant challenges for patients, families, providers, and the community as a whole. The source describes it as a system in crisis.

02

The Vision

Legacy Health, Adventist Health, Kaiser Permanente, and Oregon Health & Science University joined in an unprecedented collaboration to create a new model of care where no one is left untreated and patients reach the services and supports they need in time. The four share a goal of providing care through emergency, inpatient, and robust transition to outpatient services, and the model embraces hope, recovery, and resilience.
