What happens here
The garden's expressed goal is providing food to the less fortunate in the Pell City area, and it also functions as a place of relaxation, restoration, and revitalization. It is becoming a focal point of Pell City, somewhere people come to relax, meet new friends, and become gardeners themselves.
HOW IT CAME TO BE
More than vegetables.
01
The Need
People in the Pell City area needed food.
02
The Vision
Gateway Community Gardens set out to show that community gardening can harvest more than just vegetables, pairing the food mission with a place of relaxation and restoration so both mind and body are fed.
03
The Transformation
The site carries both a harvesting garden and a restorative garden. It is still growing, but taking hold quickly in the community.

HEAR FROM THE VISITORS

From the Little Yellow Journal
These gardens are beautiful! What a blessing to our community. I'm here for Flower Power today and am looking forward to working with the kiddos and learning something new! I hope to spend more time here.
