What happens here

Along with the church's existing orchard, the garden provides food for the food pantry and the weekly free community meal, plus opportunities for programming and community engagement.

HOW IT CAME TO BE

Earth care as ministry.

01

The Need

Govans Presbyterian is a theologically progressive community empowering people to make the world better, and a More Light Church welcoming all people into the life and leadership of the church regardless of race, age, sexual orientation, or sexual identity. Serving others and earth care are core to its work.

02

The Vision

The church has been home to one Sacred Place for over 20 years. The community garden is a second, created as part of the church's efforts to steward the planet rather than as a duplicate of the first.

03

The Transformation

The garden works alongside the existing orchard to supply the food pantry and weekly community meal.
