What happens here

The site is used by the monastery community and by Asylee Women Enterprise members, as well as the surrounding community and neighbours down Joppa Road. That mix of visitors is itself the point: for the Benedictines community is central to ministry, and their ministries of service and hospitality flow from strengthening a sense of togetherness.

HOW IT CAME TO BE

The bench needed somewhere to go.

01

The Need

Advocates for Survivors of Torture and Trauma closed, and its Sacred Place bench had nowhere to be.

02

The Vision

The bench found a new home here, in a community whose ministry is built on hospitality.

03

The Transformation

The Sacred Place sits under a tree adjacent to the labyrinth in the Sisters' garden, with a view of the slope beyond.
