What happens here

Sitting on the bench, the only sounds are deer, fox, and squirrels rustling in the surrounding woods and insects in the green space. Even after a short time here one forgets the daily tasks and to-do lists, and on leaving, the path lets a person come back to the world slowly.

HOW IT CAME TO BE

1996. The first one.

01

The Need

Nothing in the network existed yet.

02

The Vision

1996 marked the first official Nature Sacred space with a signature bench and journal, at the Chesapeake Bay Foundation's headquarters in Annapolis. The source calls it the project that started it all.

03

The Transformation

A long path canopied by vibrant trees, plants, and flowers leads to a destination point overlooking one of the many back creeks on the Chesapeake Bay. The path does work at both ends: it carries visitors in, and on the way out it lets them return to the world gradually rather than all at once.
