HOW IT CAME TO BE

Pandemic learning broke the connection to campus.

01

The Need

The school needed outdoor learning classrooms and calming down spaces. It also faced something less tangible: after virtual learning through the COVID-19 pandemic, many families and students felt somewhat disconnected from the physical campus itself.

02

The Vision

CCDSIS prepares learners to become leaders in a diverse community through a focus on academics, respect, equity, and justice, and has invested in a safe learning environment for students, staff, and parents alike. Faculty, staff, and parent representatives took up Nature Sacred's community-led design process deliberately as a catalyst for reconnection, not just as a way to produce a design. The fifth grade class named the result Wildcat Way.
