What happens here
OBI hosts a variety of daily programming across its 14-acre campus, which remains the centre of operations even as the organization has integrated more deeply into the surrounding community in recent years.
HOW IT CAME TO BE

The Need
Much of OBI's 14-acre campus is protected forest, but the portion closest to the building is open lawn sitting unactivated. Each of the building's four primary program wings has a direct access point to the outside, so the lawn is already reachable from everywhere that matters.

The Vision
OBI serves youth and adults with disabilities, supporting their pathways to full inclusion in their communities. A Sacred Place on that lawn would increase OBI's ability to host outdoor events, integrate nature and nature care activities into programs and workforce development training, increase the campus's eco-friendliness, and provide an intentional, inviting space for outdoor relaxation and contemplation.
