HOW IT CAME TO BE
No walls.
01
The Need
The site sits at the back of House of Hope Presbyterian Church, facing Portland Avenue and extending north to Interstate 94, in a neighbourhood diverse both economically and racially.
02
The Vision
A disciplined participatory community design process, especially engaging families and children. The source is explicit that the process matters as much as the outcome: both would create the chance to know neighbours more fully and realize a common dream. And it names the reason plainly — there is a metaphorical beauty in engaging people to create shared outdoor space, because there are no walls.
