What happens here

CARE House is the sole children's advocacy centre in Oakland County, offering programs focused on identifying and treating child abuse victims and on prevention, alongside community stewardship and family outreach programs.

HOW IT CAME TO BE

Building on what a staff member started.

01

The Need

CARE House was founded in 1977 as the Child Abuse and Neglect Council of Oakland County and provides free professional therapeutic services alongside a safe, welcoming space for the interviews its work requires.

02

The Vision

A staff member created a garden on the site during COVID. CARE House hopes to activate that existing garden into a Sacred Place with four uses named: somewhere children can let out excess energy, somewhere to host outreach programs, somewhere therapy sessions can happen, and somewhere staff can seek respite.
